Erstwhile, Chamarajanagar was merged with Mysore District. In the year 1997, Mysore District was bifurcated into two District namely, Mysore District and Chamarajanagar District. Chamarajanagar District was formed in the year 1997 and it is located at Southern end of the Karnataka State Bordering Tamil Nadu State.Chamarajanagar district consists of four taluks namely. Chamarajanagar Taluk, Kollegal Taluk, Yelandur Taluk and Gundlupet Taluk, To the West is Gundlupet taluk and to the East of Kollegal and Yelandur Taluk. Chamarajanagar District Court was set up on 25-09-2004. There are total of 13 courts in this unit.The District and Sessions Court, at Chamarajanagar, was inaugurated by His Lordship Honourable Mr. Justice N.K.Jain, the then Chief Justice of Karnataka, on 25th day of September 2004.
The foundation stone for construction of New District Court building was laid by the then Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court –Honourable Mr. Justice Cyriac Joseph and the chief guest of the function was Honourable Mr. M.Shivanna, Member of parliament was the guest of honour.i. Was the Law Minister The foundation stone of the New District Court building, was laid by His Lordship Hon’ble Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph on The District Court started functioning in the new building w.e.f.09.05.2010 after it was inaugurated by Honourable Mr. Justice P.D.Dinakaran, Chief Justice of Karnataka; and Honourable Mr. Justice A.S.Pachapure was the Administrative Judge for Chamarajanagar District.
